(The Palm Oil Refiners Association of Malaysia)

STRUCTURE AND MODE OF OPERATION

The House of PORAM comprises the Chairman of the Association and a ruling Management Board. Members of the Management Board lead the other principal committees which are responsible for specific areas of activity.

These committees are:-
  1. Commercial & Technical Committee
  2. Price Settlement Committee
  3. Associate Members Committee
  4. Arbitration Rules Execution Committee

The Secretariat, headed by the Chief Executive Officer/Secretary, serves all the committees and is responsible for the daily operations of the Association.

MEMBERSHIP

There are three categories of members, namely:-
  1. Full
  2. Associate
  3. Supplementary

Full members are drawn from any firm, company or corporation involved in the business of processing, refining and fractionation of palm oil. With 8 founder members in 1975, PORAM has expanded steadily in size and stature over the years. Today PORAM has full members representing more than 90% of the crude palm oil refined in the country.

In 1985, PORAM introduced associate membership into the Association and invited memberships of companies connected with the oils and fats trade but not directly connected with the business of processing, refining and fractionation of palm oil. Since 1993, any firm, company or corporation involved in palm oil processing and is an associate company, subsidiary or affiliation of any full member of PORAM is eligible to be admitted as a supplementary member of the Association.
